Shortlisted for a Great British Food Award!

We are delighted to have been shortlisted by The Great British Food Awards for our NEW Fava Bean & Poppy Seed Crackers. The winners will be announced in the autumn – wish us luck.

The Fava Bean & Poppy Seed Cracker uses flour of the fava bean - one of the oldest cultivated crops grown in the UK.

The cracker is handmade with 100% natural ingredients, is gluten-free, wheat-free and dairy-free. It is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Oh - and it tastes just fantastic. We hope the judges agree.



Two Great Taste Awards

We are thrilled and delighted to announce that two of our Chickpea Crispbread range have won Great Taste Awards.

We have been awarded TWO Gold stars for our Seeds & Black Pepper crispbreads and ONE Gold Star for our Mung Bean & Chive crispbreads.

Crisp, crumbly and irresistibly moreish, our seeds and Black Pepper gluten-free crispbreads are handmade using nutty-tasting chickpea flour and buttermilk from a local farm. Carefully seasoned and generously topped with toasted seeds for extra crunch, they are perfect for snacking, lunching, dipping and sharing.

Also gluten-free, the Mung & Chive crispbreads are crunchy and flavoursome and are perfect for lunch, at home or in the office, or as a party snack or for dipping.

Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the “Oscars” of the food world. Quite simply the Great Taste logo is the sign you can trust when buying food and drink.

This year, more than 500 judges came together at 65 judging days from March to July. The judges, from all corners of the food world, blind-taste in teams of three or four to ensure a balance of expertise.

Good Choice Quality Food Award for us!

We’re so thrilled to have won a Good Choice! Quality Food Award for our Cheddar Crunch Crispbread. Respected food and drink experts munched their way through more than 200 products to choose the winners. The process took three days to complete! We thank them for their dedication to duty and for singling out our crispbread as the winner in the Snack category.

Judge Helen Lyons said: “The awards were set up to recognise and reward those products that excel in both taste and ‘better choice’ options.”

Well, we may be biased but we do like to think that we are a worthy winner.

West Country Mature Cheddar gives bags of flavour to the Cheddar Crunch Crispbread, sourced from a farm in Dorset.  The addition of polenta enhances the crunch and, to finish, the crispbread has a healthy topping of linseed, flax, millet and chia seed.

Our Chickpea Crispbread Cheddar Crunch has been awarded a Great Taste Gold two-star Award 2017!

And that’s not all…

Our Chickpea Crispbread Seaweed & Sesame received a Great Taste Gold one-star Award 2017!

We think that Somerset Farmhouse Mature Cheddar gives bags of flavour to the Cheddar Crunch Crispbread. The addition of polenta enhances the crunch, along with a healthy topping of linseed, flax, millet and chia seed.

Our Seaweed & Sesame crisp breads are seasoned with a nutritious blend of native seaweed, delicate umami flavours of the sea, then topped with toasted sesame seeds for a Japanese twist.

We have worked hard to make delicious crispbreads - and we are so pleased that that great taste judges agree. They have great taste!



Second healthy Food winner

Easy Bean’s Thai Edamame Curry is also a winner in the Vegetarian Prepared meal category of the Healthy Food Guide’s Food & Drink Awards 2017.

The judges said: “A mild, yellow, one-pot curry that’s subtly sweet and creamy, with plenty of edamame beans and broccoli.”

Another Quality Award for us

We entered our Brazilian Vatapá into the Ready Meals – Vegetable category in the Good Choice Quality Food Awards - and we got a “highly commended.” *Proud face*

The Awards highlight best practice in food products that are specifically designed and marketed as healthier, free from or alternative diet. That’s us!

They recognise the huge efforts being made by retailers and manufacturers to deliver food and drink that address specific consumer needs, such as low-fat, low-sugar, dairy-free and reduced-calorie.

We are Healthy Snack Award winners!

We are winners in the Healthy Snacks Category of the Good Choice Quality Food Awards!

The judges said this about us: “Easy Bean continues its mission to produce tasty, healthy and convenient food that champions the bean with the introduction of a range of Chickpea Crispbreads.

“Handmade using Chickpea Flour, locally sourced butter and buttermilk and topped with toasted seeds, the savoury, all natural crispbread is gluten-free, wheat-free, high fibre and suitable for vegetarians. The creative use of chickpea flour in the crispbread provides a healthy savoury snack. All the judges agreed that it is well-utilised in this product.”

Another comment we received was “It has great texture and comes in attractive, simple, stylish packaging.”

We had a wonderful evening in London at the award ceremony and – best of all – we heard that our crispbread went down so well with the judges that any surplus was taken home…



Easy Bean wins ‘Best Regional Fairtrade business’ accolade!

Easy Bean has been named as the winner of the first ever regional Fairtrade Business Awards, sponsored by The Co-operative. We impressed the judges who said that Easy Bean represents: “A focused company which clearly knows where it’s going and has worked with the Fairtrade Foundation to expand the range of Fairtrade products into a new area without becoming all ‘worthy’. It has a sense of informative fun around its ethos and packaging which is a brilliant way to engage customers with Fairtrade.”

The Awards were presented by entrepreneur and chef, Levi Roots, at a ceremony at Colston Hall, Bristol, onMarch 8, attended by 160 business leaders in the region. Levi has recently visited Fairtrade cocoa farmers in Ghana and told the audience how inspired he was by the difference Fairtrade makes to communities.

The ceremony was opened by the Mayor of Bristol, George Ferguson. Bristol has been a Fairtrade city since 2005.



Healthy accolade for Moroccan Tagine

Happy to report that our Moroccan Tagine meal has been highly commended in the Ready Meal category by the Healthy Food Guide UK team. The Tagine is made with chickpeas, aubergine, butternut squash and apricots, all infused with aromatic spice and cooked in a flavoursome sauce. Each meal has three of your five-a-day! It’s delicious on its own or served with pitta bread, couscous or rice. Enjoy!
