Turmeric triumph

Why did we choose turmeric as an ingredient in our Chickpea, Turmeric & Nigella Seed crackers?

Well - it gives our crackers a beautiful colour for starters but, of course, there is more to it than that…

Turmeric comes from the turmeric plant and is a common spice in many Asian dishes. You will recognise turmeric as a main spice in curry for example.

Turmeric has a warm, bitter taste and, as well as curry, is often used to flavor mustards, butters and even cheeses.

The root of turmeric is also used widely to make medicine as it contains a chemical called curcumin. It’s considered helpfulĀ for controlling inflammation. It’s a folk remedy and a popular one at that.

We chose it because its taste complements the flavour of chickpea and it travels well with butter cheese and other toppings. Let us know what you think.
